Texas Bluebonnets

You know, sadly I admit, when we found out we were pregnant I couldn't wait to get to take bluebonnet pictures with him. We took Hudson for some photos this morning - with my new camera! I still have a LOT to learn about the new camera, but I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out. We will have to go and take some more soon!

Ahhhh - no more RODEO!

I love this time of year...I really do, but I'm so thankful for it to be OVER! I didn't like leaving Hudson at home all the time, it broke my heart a little more each day when I would leave him in the morning and know that I wasn't going to see him until the next day - and it didn't help that my car decided to break down in the middle of this all so that made it hard to go and see him. Oh well, we went to the rodeo one last time today for Brad Paisley and it was really nice! We went really early in the morning to go shopping around, although it was just window shopping as the rodeo is incredibly expensive!

Happy 3rd Anniversary

Jason and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary this week, we didn't really do much except the rodeo. I have no car so of course I was a little upset because I didn't even have time to go and find him a card. Oh well, so we spent the evening in Houston, just us, no one else, and had a really good concert to listen to.

So three years, three amazing years of wedded bliss together. Yea, I know, corny, but each and every day just keeps getting better and better. From an amazing partner, best friend, companion for life, to the amazing father he has become over the last 8 months. I can't say enough great things about him. As a husband, he is more than I could have ever ask for to be by my side in life, as a father, I am amazed each and every day with how much he teaches our son. I am so thankful for the years we've had together and look forward to the years that are still yet to come. He still makes my heart skip a beat (or two) each and every day.

Jason surprised me one more time...after dinner tonight he took me to buy a new camera! I can't wait to start shooting Hudson!!!

8 months old

So we're 2 weeks late but it's Rodeo time and we are a little busy!!!

Oh my sweet baby blues, you just keep getting bigger and bigger and I don't know how to handle it! You are still a healthy 20 pounds and I'm assuming getting longer - we didn't get a chance to measure. I think I say it every month, but I just can't believe how big you are getting. You change so much each and every day and I am amazed with how much you learn by doing things. Realizing that pulling on a toy too hard will cause it to pop back up in your face and hurt, learning how to keep your balance and learning that mommy has a weaker heart than daddy when it comes to hearing your cry! You now have 5 teeth and are about to cut some more on top. You have begun to experiment in using those teeth biting everything from your crib to mommy and everything in between - and yes you have even made mommy bleed but I am determined to nurse you until you are 1 year old! You haven't met a food you don't like yet - which is really good! You are still taking 2 bottles a day, cut back to only 6ounces each bottle because you were leaving so much. We are going to probably have to start some formula soon though because mommy's supply is dwindling away. You're still a good sleeper, and even getting a little better at napping during the day! You are still in a size 3 diaper and wearing 9 month clothes. You can still fit in to some of your 6 month items and we have you wearing some 12 month jackets, but they swallow you all up! You are all over the place, we can't just leave you on the floor to play, you crawl all over and follow us to each room. I put you in your pack-n-play and you are ok for a while, but eventually you realize you are in jail and want out. We are thinking we are going to have to put up the swing soon, unfortunately you are a little too chunky for it and it strains to rock you :( You have been pulling yourself up for quite some time now but you are walking yourself around your crib and while holding onto things, then you recently begun experimenting with letting them go. You can balance yourself for about 3-4 seconds then plop down, but you get right back up and try again! It won't be long now and you're going to be walking. We are waiting until we can get your Nana and Poppy back to town so we can cut that mop of a head of hair! It's completely out of control but we're going to have to wait a little while. You are very clingy to the familiar faces in your life, you cry when we leave the room. It breaks my heart but makes me smile at the same time. I love that you want us to be around you, but hate it when I have to go to work. I love seeing your face light up when daddy comes in the room, it just melts my heart to see how you look up to him so much already! Daddy is now on a night shift, so our family time is often limited to visits for dinner at 8:00pm each nigth he's working and a quick kiss good-bye in the morning as he's coming home. Hopefully this won't be for too long, mommy doesn't like this schedule at all!

I can't believe again, another month has gone by. You are a little man now, you are exploring so much each and every day and I enjoy watching you grow. I know I'll probably eat these words, but I can't wait until you are running around the house!!! We'll be planning a birthday party soon! Woo-hoo!

HAPPY 8 MONTHS!!!

My first 5K

Well, it took me 28 years and almost an hour to finish, but I ran my first ever 5K this morning...I was up bright and early and not functioning enough for running! Jason stayed home with Hudson so I could go, thankfully I had some of my co-workers there to cheer me along at the finish line - but here's proof I did finish!

Got me some new kicks...it's amazing how much nicer it is to run when you have shoes that aren't 4 years old!!!

And then I was done...came home and we took a nap together!!

I can barely move off the couch but actually ready to go run another one! I'm actually pretty proud of myself, I didn't run/walk fast at all but I finished...took me a while but I did complete it. I do hope to eventually build up from this and do more than just a 5K, I guess next step will be a 10K - gonna go for a few more 5Ks though before I start moving on up. Blue Bell hosts a 5K, Jason says Brenham is the worst place to run because of all the hills but you get ice cream at the end...if that's not incentive to run then I don't know what is?!?!

Since we've had the Rodeo this week and Jason was gone out of town, we haven't had much time to spend together with Hudson...so we loaded up and decided to go and hang out with Jason at work.

RODEO time!!!

Yep...the time has come yet again for Rodeo Houston - I love and hate this time of year. Love it because what's not to love about going to the rodeo but hate it because I am usually really tired and worn out by the end of the three weeks. We had fun on the first night - Alabama!!!

Yes it's true...Hudson has started crawling, this is the beginning of craziness!!!

He's in to EVERYTHING! Climbs onto all the furniture and isn't really understanding "no" right now, or he does but he just throws a temper tantrum and then tries again 5 seconds later...

We love our pack and play

The first time we put him in this thing he didn't quite understand why he could see us through the mesh sides but couldn't get to us...he played for a bit then cried for us to come get him. Well today I was cooking lunch so I decided to load the pack-and-play up with toys and stick him in there with some cartoons on. I would go and check on him every now and then but then he got quiet, much to my surprise, he had put himself to sleep! He slept for a little over an hour in there, then did it again later in the afternoon for another hour and a half! Toys all around him and usually wraps the blanket all around him...I guess he likes to get all snuggled up like his daddy does!

So Hudson now has 4 teeth...but obviously his gums are itching and/or the teeth are bothering him because he has destroyed his crib.

Happy Valentine's Day

From our sweet lil' heartbreaker!

Hubby is back on a night shift :(

So we knew the day would eventually come...we hoped it would be much much later and when Hudson was a little it older but the day has finally come and Jason is back on a night shift. Away from home, leaving me all alone with a 7 month old...I guess in his defense he did at least take some precautions in making sure we were safe...

This was waiting for me on my night stand...

I think it goes without saying that I'm not very happy about this move - apparently Jason has warned all his coworkers that it's just best to not even ask me because you just can't ever tell what's going to fly out of my mouth. So I'll keep my mouth shut...but I know some day the wrong person is going to ask the wrong question and it's all going to come flying out...

So as I sit here alone on my first night with him out there I wonder how long it will take me to fall asleep. Nights are a lot more intense as a patrol officer; that's when all the crazies are out. Jason always enjoyed the work of nights a lot more, but it raises a lot of concerns in my book. I stare at the monitor and watch Hudson sleep and wonder how many restless nights will I have? How long will it take me to get over this move - or how long will it last? Okay, I'll get off my soapbox and go to bed...just had to vent a bit...goodnight sweet readers!

Hudson took his Uncle Trey to lunch today to celebrate his birthday! He sure did enjoy spending some time with him - mommy and grandma were there too but he sees us every day :)

7 months

Well, another month has passed us by...Hudson is growing up so fast, I feel like every time I blink he's grown so much more!

Oh please stop growing!!! Hudson is a whopping 20 pounds and 27 inches long!!! We have grown a pound and a little over an inch in the last month!!! Oh my sweet baby boy, where has the time gone?? Well, you have 3 teeth now, have a HEALTHY diet of solid foods and can sit up and scoot yourself all over the living room. You are still nursing as well - still taking a bottle twice a day @ 7 ounces each time, wearing size 3 diapers, 6-9 months clothes and size 2 & 3 in shoes. You take a paci pretty well and can grab it and put it in your mouth on your own, but you don't cry for it or seek it out so I'm very happy aboutthis and hope it sticks! You are still sleeping through the night, although you have a tooth trying to break through the gum right now and you've had some trouble with it and sleep but for the most part things are great and you still let mommy and daddy sleep all night long. You pushed yourself up for the first time this month, you've been sitting on your own for at least a month now but you finally mastered pushing yourself up on your own, daddy and grandma got to see it first, mommy had to wait a few days to get to see it. You are such a happy happy baby, everyone always comments on how well behaved you are and how you look like a Gerber baby. You are a big boy in your high chair now, and can finally go on shopping trips with mommy to Wal-Mart - your Nana and Poppy bought you a high chair/shopping cart cover, which you happen to thoroughly enjoy! Mommy can clip toys to it and you are set, although you are usually more concerned with what's going on around you than the toys I bring!! You have certainly found our voice, you just love to scream just to hear the sound of your voice! You have begun this little game of throwing things on the floor and seeing who's going to pick them up, mommy sometimes does - but daddy is more of a fan of that game than mommy! You still take at least 2 naps during the day, sometimes good long ones but mostly just 30-40 minute naps. Mommy and daddy are seriously considering getting your hair cut in the coming weeks, your hair is seriously out of control! You are at a good age right now where you can entertain yourself for a while without someone constantly having to be right there, you do have your "needy" days where someone has to be right next to you in order for you to play with your toys but most days you are perfectly content on your own. You are making lots of sounds - on top of the screams - you have down "ma-ma-ma-ma-ma," "ne-ne-ne-ne-ne," and "ahh...ahh...AHH!" Daddy is going to a night shift soon so things are going to be a little different for a while, but your Nana and Poppy are coming down soon too so they can spend some time with you.

Things are starting to happen now and I know it's only a matter of time before you are mobile - then talking!!! Right now though, I love your emerging personality, your smile is infectious and melts our hearts each and every time you smile! One more month down, and so many more to come!!!
