Yay we are 4 months old!!

My oh my, where has the time gone!!! My lil' man is already 4 months old!!!

Well sweet boy, you have had quite an entertaining month! First off, you have grown...a good 15 pounds 14 ounces and measuring at 25 inches long! You certainly don't miss a meal but Dr. Ransom says you are growing just perfectly as you should be! We are currently trying to move your bed time up about an hour and it works for the most part...you still sleep all the way through the night, and that makes a very happy mommy and daddy!! You are still strictly on breastmilk, taking a bottle at least twice a day, but we have moved you up to 6 ounces now and you sure do enjoy it!! You are my lil' chunky monkey and I love EVERY inch of you! You are in size 2 diapers, however, I don't anticipate it will be for long, you are a growing boy!! You wear anything from 3 months to 9 months clothes and everything in between! It's so fun to move up in sizes and start wearing all the outfits that everyone got for you. We (mommy) is trying to break you of your habit of having to be swaddled to sleep/nap. Everyone says to just do it until you break yourself of the habit but I'd like to get a little bit of a head start on it so we're taking baby steps and starting out each night and seeing how long we go before we "need" it. Your little bald spot has grown a little, and is beginning to spread around the side of your head, so I'm hoping that by now swaddling you that it will help since you will hopefully be moving around more!! You are still just as happy as can be, I absolutely LOVE each morning getting you up and ready for the day. You certainly have the "mmmmMA" sound down and I'm loving it! It's the sweetest sound that I can hear! You have begun to "fake cough" just for attention, grandma likes to play a little game with you to get you to cough for her, it's quite funny! You have discovered your FEET and are thoroughly enjoying them! We can't keep them out of your mouth but I do love to watch you. You still play on your playmat we got you, and now you have a bouncer that you like. We can put you in it and turn on some cartoons and you will entertain yourself for an hour or so. You still take good naps in your swing, and at grandma's you take naps in your crib. I think one of daddy's favorite times, and yours too, is when daddy cuddles up with you on the couch for a good "daddy nap" on the days he keeps you. I have gotten to see this a time or two, it's the sweetest thing to watch. You have a Baby Einstein movie and you enjoy to watch it over and over again. You can roll over from your belly to your back, you did it for mommy and daddy at 2 weeks old, and then not long ago you did it for grandma, you are almost there on back to belly. You teeter-totter while holding your feet, almost there. If you can just learn to tuck that shoulder then we are in trouble!! You got baptized at church at the beginning of the month, everyone came into town to watch and we even went for a fun evening downtown with you, you slept most of the time! Mommy and daddy went out for the first time to a concert one weekend, it was lots of fun but mommy wasn't quite ready to leave you alone at night just yet. We are gearing up and getting ready for your first Halloween, you are going to be Superman!!!

Mommy and daddy enjoy each and every day with you, we are getting more and more comfortable as each day passes, learning new things though each day. Mommy has learned that no matter what, her hands aren't big enough to catch everything; i.e. poop & spit up ;) Your smile is infectious, your laugh melts mommy's heart. You are daddy's pride and joy, I know he enjoys the days he gets you all to himself. You have brought so much joy and pleasure to our lives, to everyone's lives. Mommy and daddy, grandma & "grumpy", uncle Trey, nana & poppy, aunt Jaclyn & uncle Skipper and your sweet cousins Brianna and Chloe. Each month has been so much more fun than the last, and each month you show us just how amazing you are! Daddy and I are so lucky to have such a precious lil' angel in our lives, you have completed our household in so many ways. We love you so much!

HAPPY 4 MONTHS my lil' chunky monkey!

Pumpkin Patch

We took Hudson to a pumpkin patch this evening, I think he just was good for us, he really didn't know what to think about it. Poor baby, one day he will look back and see just how crazy mom and dad were these first few years with him :)

He really will appreciate all this one day right??? :)

Check out my new trick!

I went shopping with mommy today...check out my new favorite thing to do :)

I have toes...and I can reach them!!!

So proud of my hubby!

I love Jason more now than I did 7 years ago, but there are moments that just make you so proud to be a part of someone's life and that for me was last night. Every year Jason participates in Special Olympic events and my heart just melts each and every time I see him take part in the events and makes me so proud to be his wife.

Jason accepted an award for the Law Enforcement Torch Run and we ran into some old friends of his

This was Danny, Jason's athlete for the opening ceremony run

Lighting the torch at opening ceremonies

I am one proud wife! This is something that Jason is truly passionate about, and I have become very involved in as well. He's back at the games heading up security today...and he does all of this for free!!

Fun weekend

We spent the weekend in Bridge City, had our niece's 3rd birthday party and a concert. I can't say that I was quite ready to have someone else put my sweet baby boy to bed but I knew the day would come and Jason really didn't give me a choice - he kinda just bought the tickets :) It was fun though.

Silly cousin Kevin

Happy birthday girl!

Ended with a visit to see Granny...but Hudson was in fine form this morning!!

Baptism

My sweet baby boy got baptized today. All our families came together for this blessed day and even some sweet family friends came to lunch. Hudson did great too during church, even smiled at the pastor. The pastor that married Jason and I was the one that baptized Hudson, meant a lot to us to have him be a part of it all.

Our family

This is the pastor that married us...he's so tall!

My family...it's hard to get everyone to look at the camera AND smile!

And Jason's family, they're a little better at looking at the camera

Our certificate of baptism

Hudson got lots of Bibles as gifts today, I look forward to reading each and everyone one to him! Thanks to everyone for making this day so special for us.

Finally finished!

I finally finished my first Pinterest project! I started this while I was still out on maternity leave and just finally got it all complete. It was very time consuming, but I really like it...I just have no idea where I'm going to hang it :) This technique is called quilling...you can purchase the stuff to do it at craft stores but I made my own...

Supplies:
Mod Podge
Small paint brush
Scissors
Toothpicks
Hand sanitizer (trust me)
Small cup of water
Various colors of card stock

First, you will need to print off your letter you are doing in a light gray, you will cover over it and not be able to see it once you are done. I printed mine on just regular paper but now looking back I should have done it on card stock, the Mod Podge made regular paper kinda thin. Take your various colors of card stock and cut them into 1/4 inch pieces, if you can cut them smaller then you might like 1/8 inch pieces, and that's how they come in the store if you actually buy the "quilling paper" but I was cheap :) And you only need one sheet of each color...I only used about 2 or 3 strips of each color, so not even an inch of each color.

Choose the color you want to outline the letter, take it and figure out the folds of the letter. Do this before you glue it down. It's a little frustrating to get the folds just right but here's where a toothpick might come in handy. I used the toothpicks at corners for folds, it helped me out a lot, or try to work it out where the end of a strip is in a crease...and I would suggest not using a letter with curves...I said many a bad word around those curves. Take your brush and Mod Podge and glue the strips down along the outline of the letter. The Mod Podge is very sticky, I traced a little bit (a few inches) then put some on the strip and then put it in place and held it for a few seconds for it to set. Here's where the hand sanitizer came in...I kept washing my hands to keep them clean and free of excess Mod Podge.

It should look something like this once you're done. So gather all your strips and then start designing. Most of the colors I picked rolled fairly easy, but some I needed a toothpick to get them started.

You curl them and place them pretty much however you like. Setting them all in place with the Mod Podge, I would put a big blob of it under the thickest part of the curl. After each strip was set I would go back around the edges and paint some more Mod Podge on just as extra. I kept dipping my brush in water from time to time to make sure it wasn't getting clogged with all the Mod Podge...like I said, it was super sticky!

Once you are all done then find a matte and frame of your choice and there you have it!

Here's a close-up of the detail...it took a lot of patience...

Now I just need to figure out where to put it, cuz Hudson's room is completely full!

First Friday with the family

This weekend is a busy weekend for us! Jason's parents are in town for the weekend and his sister will be here on Sunday for Hudson's baptism. This weekend is also Texas Reds Festival. We went and had dinner with everyone in downtown and then walked the festival afterwards, we got some cute pics of Huds with some pumpkins!

He had finally crashed and we woke him up...he wasn't too pleased!

And a familia photo :)

Daddy time :)

I had a meeting this evening and came home to Jason posing Hudson for photos

He was playing at first on his new playmat we got

But while I'm cooking dinner I see the flash going off for this

It is pretty funny though

Then Dixie decided she wanted in on a photo

But now as I'm typing this...here is the cuteness going on, although daddy busted me taking the photo
