Spontaneous road trip!!

So we got word that the Travis Letters were going to be at The Alamo and we thought it would be a great idea to make a quick road trip to San Antonio to see them yesterday. Now, while it was totally worth it to be able to see those letters in person, trying to wrangle a cranky toddler was soooooo not worth it! We got about halfway there and realized that we forgot the stroller at home and wondered how we were going to make it. We managed but it was a long day!!

This was early on...we had time to kill since as you can see by the line in the background there was a long wait...I think they said about 3 hours at best!!

Crossing over the lines

Yep...he's totally my child reaching for some Big Red...

He's soooo not having these pictures

But sure did like all the fish

I think we could have just left him here for hours and he would have entertained himself

I love catching sweet moments like this!!

Being silly and playing around

Family photo in front of The Alamo

My sweet lil' man!!

Making friends along the way

"Please daddy, can we go yet?!"

So we tried for some pictures on The Riverwalk...

However little man got distracted...

And he was gone!

Like he'd known them forever...

Like father...like son...

But we finally did manage to get some photos

And I don't blame the munchkin for running to the ladies...check out those baby blues, who could resist them!?!?

We weren't able to take out our phones inside The Alamo because flash could mess up the letters so outside was all we got pictures of but it was so much fun. An adventure nonetheless but lots of fun and I'm glad we got to experience that together as a family.

Fallen First Responders

These are not happy moments I want to remember, however, it's in these moments that I am most proud of my husband and all first responders in this area. Jason worked this weekend, and as usual he was texting until late in the evening. I remember him texting letting me know there was a fire they were working, then about 2 hours later he called saying it was bad. He didn't have to say anymore, I could hear it in his voice just how bad "bad" meant. He continued to text most of the night just letting me know he was ok and that he would be home in the morning. I will NEVER forget that smell for as long as I live, I could smell him as he walked in the door, the smell of smoke just engulfed him. Our community lost 2 firefighters that night, my husband lost another dear friend. Unfortunately this hit too close to home too soon after our last tragedy. Jason was asked to be a part of the procession as it marched in so it was a very long day for him, as I watched everything I was just amazed and in awe of all that came together for these fallen brothers in blue. It's a truly humbling experience to witness.

I'm proud when my husband wears this uniform, but so sad that he has to pull out the honor guard gear.

Morning view as it all began

The procession marching in

This is the engine that Jason's friend rode on, Jason was marching him in one last time

Caught by The Eagle that morning, you can see so much emotion and strength in my husband's face

When I see little moments like this I couldn't be more proud of the man Hudson has to look up to. This little boy had come to be a part of the events and Jason went up and introduced himself to him and thanked him for being there.

Final ride home...

I really hope we don't have anymore of these for a while, I don't know that our hearts can handle anymore heartache.

Happy Valentine's Day

Be still my beating heart...it amazes me how much this little man melts my heart! We tried for some cute Valentine's Day photos...we got some good...some bad...but had so much fun in the process!!

That smile...

Those eyes...

Oh this silly boy!!

Yea...this was our first tantrum we had to deal with

You would have thought we took his favorite toy away!

But then we got this cuteness!!

I feel like he's saying "come on mom, aren't you done taking photos?!" Oh my sweet man, I'll never be done taking photos of you!!

Just pure cuteness!!

Then we got playful!!

He got the chuckles...

Daddy being silly with him

Then he was being silly!!

Glad I get to have two special men to share this Valentine's Day with, my sweet hubby and this sweet lil' man!!

Cattle Baron's Ball

It's been a while since my cowboy and I had a night out so we got dressed up for the Cattle Baron's Ball this year. We had so much fun!!

I'd say I had a pretty hot date for the evening!!

Yea...that's my cowboy

Sweet friends - The Siglers

Of course we made our way backstage to meet the entertainer for the evening - Brandon Ryder

And Monica got in on the fun too!!

The after-party at The Tap with Windyloo!

The Swearingens

The next morning we realized that we are getting a little too "old" to stay out and party all night long, but we sure had a lot of fun!!!
