First solid foods

Could it really be...my baby boy is now ready for solid foods?! Ahhh...well I think that we had more fun with it than he did! We had hoped to do it for his 6 month birthday but it just didn't work out, so one day late but oh well. I was told to make it almost as runny as breastmilk...well that was some DUMB advice! All I did was make a huge mess!

Ok, first bite was not too bad...

He certainly has no problem grabbing the spoon

Mmmmmmm!

"Here mommy, I show you!"

He did have quite the audience for his first big boy bites

Again, trying to take the spoon

I finally just gave up and let him have the spoon

He kept sucking on it like a bottle

And this was just about the point of losing him

And we're done...

We finally gave up and put the remaining milk/rice cereal mixture in a bottle and he guzzled it on down. So we'll try again tomorrow...hopefully it will go a little better!

6 months old!

Boy oh boy has it been an exciting month! To think that at this point a year ago we were just starting to tell everyone that we were expecting and now we have a very rapidly growing baby (and I use that term lightly) boy is just mind boggling!

Obviously our attention span is very short...

So we try to take the distraction away and he just finds something else!

So we give it back and just try our best to get a good picture

This is my favorite, however Jason is not a fan of the wide open mouth - I happen to think this showcases his personality best!

So here's a simplier one...still some personality but not nearly as much!

My goodness sweet boy, stop growing already! You are a healthy 19 pounds and 25 3/4 inches long. HEALTHY...I don't care what anybody says, you are a very healthy boy and growing just as the doctor says you should! Still wearing size 3 in diapers and anything from 3-9 months in clothes...however the 3 months are all short sleeved things so we have to throw on a jacket. You are wearing size 2 or 3 in shoes too...I just LOVE putting you in shoes! We are still nursing and taking two bottles a day, still at 6 ounces each and we will begin some solid food hopefully soon! You are getting a little fussy at night, haven't slept all through the night in a while but I think it's because you are hungry - all the more reason why we need to start some solid foods. You are sitting on your own, you can balance really well forward and backward but you haven't quite figured out what to do when you fall to the side - we've had a few head bops here and there. You are scooting more and more all over the place. We put you on the floor and you are across the room before we know it but you do it by rolling yourself all over! You cut your first two teeth!!! We were so excited! You took it like a champ, didn't really have much fever or fuss - I think we only gave you Tylenol at nighttime to calm you down enough to sleep. We celebrated your first Christmas...and boy were you spoiled! We did Christmas with Nana and Poppy first, you got some toys and some money and a Christmas cookie plate for when we start making cookies for Santa!!! I don't think you really knew what was going on but you sure looked like you were having fun! We did Christmas day breakfast with Uncle Trey then opened presents at home, after that we went and had lunch at Grandma and Grandpa's and had presents over there - you got lots of CLOTHES!!! Mommy and daddy were sure happy about that! The day after Christmas your Nana and Poppy came to help us take care of some things - you have surely enjoyed getting to spend some days with them! You are able to sit now in high chairs - and I think you enjoy not being couped up in your car seat anymore! You are starting to get a little more grabby and getting ahold of earrings and necklaces - we are going to have to watch that! You are so much more fun with each passing day! You are becoming a little more independant in that you can entertain yourself a little bit longer on your own, so that sure helps mommy get things done around the house! I'm beginning to think that we are not going to be able to wait to get a hair cut for your first birthday...your hair is out of control, and the curls, oh the curls...they are just too cute for words!!!

My sweet chunky monkey, you are more precious today than you were 6 months ago, and we love you so much! You are growing up so fast and I can't believe that this time has passed. I look forward to you becoming mobile and talking, but I'm sure enjoying each and every day of babbling and high pitched screams!

HAPPY 6 MONTHS!!!

Baby's First Christmas!

We had a great Christmas morning at Casa de James!! I think Hudson was a little excited for Santa, he was up at 1:00am and 5:00am, but it's ok for this one morning!!! I woke up early (obviously) and made breakfast for us, and Uncle Trey came over to join us. He got to the house just in time to get Hudson out of bed and take him to the tree to see his gifts. Hudson entertained himself so we could eat breakfast, then he got to eat and then it was time for PRESENTS!!!

Trying to get his Peek-a-boo Bunny!

Who would wrap a present for a baby?!?

Awww, daddy, now is not the time for pictures - come help me!

Now I got it!

Mmmm - bunny tastes yummy!

One happy baby on Christmas morning!

Got a signed baseball from our neighbor

So happy my Uncle Trey came to visit me

Best Christmas ever!

All of us with mo-mo Sarah

So presh!

After presents at our house and a visit to see mo-mo Sarah, we went to my parents' house and had Christmas over there. We had a nice turkey lunch then sat down for presents.

Someone was a little eager to get to the presents...

"Hey people, I"m opening presents!"

All pooped out after opening presents!

Playing with my new toy from Uncle Trey

And my Baby Neptune (also from Uncle Trey)

LOVE those baby blues!

Hudson's first Christmas was perfect, from spending time in Bridge City to the final hours here in Bryan. I can't wait until next year, when he might actually realize what's going on.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Christmas Craft

Thanks to Pinterest we made something for the grandparents, aunt and uncles. Since everyone has theirs now, I can post a photo of it!

Yea, the fingers do look a little funny but it's hard to keep a 5 month old's fingers still!!!
